The following biography was provided by Jamie Gates, Robert Gailey and Larry Bollinger for the Global Mission Conference in 2007:
Jamie Gates, Robert Gailey, and Larry Bollinger. We’ve been close friends for most of our lives, sharing similar experiences and passions (for one, a love of Boston sports teams) and attending Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) at the same time, which was a very significant experience for us. Our friendship has been deeply influenced by our experiences as missionary kids, missionaries, our seminary/graduate school training, and our work in various compassionate ministries within the Church of the Nazarene and in other Christian relief and development organizations. Jamie and Rob are both ordained in the Church of the Nazarene and currently serve as professors at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU). Jamie, with a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology, serves in the Sociology Department and Rob, who is working on his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies, serves in the School of Business. Jamie also directs PLNU’s Center for Justice and Reconciliation while Rob directs the university’s Armenian Center for International Development. Larry is currently the International Director of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and earned his MBA in Economic Development from Eastern University. Each of us married our college love during our ENC days and Jamie and Larry have three children, while Rob has two.
