Reverend Phineas F. Bresee, D.D., (1838-1915) organized the First Church of the Nazarene in Los Angeles, California, in 1895 and served with Dr. Widney as the first general superintendents as the movement spread from one church to a denomination of churches. He was married to Maria and father to seven children.
