The Toothpaste Express is a collection of letters written by Armand Doll, Nazarene missionary imprisoned in Mozambique for a year and 20 days [August 1975-September 1976], to his wife, Pauline, in the United States. Since he could not write to her openly, he smuggled the letters out in a variety of ways with the help of many friends...Armand’s purpose was not to smuggle out secret reports on political happenings in Mozambique, but to keep in touch with his wife, to reassure her that all was well with him. (From the Foreword) Includes photos.
