(You must be a registered user to send comments.) - See more at: https://www.whdl.org/content/cg-201-health#sthash.GQrAUN8P.dpuf Course Description This course will expose students to human social structures (family, tribe, nation, etc.) and various social problems (war, racial conflict, abuse of the environment, violence, injustice, divorce, exploitation, AIDS, etc.). The student as a minister of the Gospel will be able to understand and respond to these different problems. Course Rationale The African pastor in the 21st century will have the challenge of entering the ministry in a very complicated situation with the possibilities of economic growth or decline among church members who come from a long history of exploitation and even violence in African society. The Church of the Nazarene believes divine redemption, made possible through Jesus Christ upon the cross, aims at changing the social structures and problems which are the residue of the spiritual condition of the sinner. At least, the pastor should know how to care for others who are victim of various injustices. Since Jesus called us to be the salt of the earth and light of the world (Matt 5:13-14), effective pastors should be aware of the resources available to create a safe environment of love and peace in which true reconciliation promotes just governments at all levels of society as a testimony of the grace of God for all humanity.
