About This Author

Paul Merritt Bassett (1935-2022) was a church historian and pastor in the Church of the Nazarene. He taught at Trevecca Nazarene College, West Virginia University, Nazarene Theological Seminary, Point Loma College, and Seminario Nazareno Centroamericana and served congregations in North Carolina and Ohio. He also directed the Master of Divinity program at Nazarene Theological Seminary and the Mexico Extension Program. He was the son of Paul Gardner Bassett. He was married to Pearl and father to Anita, Emilie and Paul Stephan.
